Current Officers (June 2021 - present)

Yvonne Rericha – President

I am a fourth year graduate student working in Dr. Robyn Tanguay’s lab researching the toxicity and of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) using zebrafish as a model organism. Originally from Boise, Idaho, I earned a B.S. in Biology from St. John’s University in New York and then worked as an environmental field technician and laboratory technician before coming to OSU. Outside of the lab, I enjoy baking, hiking, and entertaining my two dogs.

Lindsay Wilson - Vice President

I am a fourth year EMT graduate student in the Tanguay laboratory. My research focuses on elucidating divergent mechanisms of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) toxicity using the zebrafish model. Prior to coming to OSU I worked for three years at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) studying sustainable agriculture and prairie ecology. I am originally from Nebraska and outside of the lab, I enjoy gardening, camping, and hanging out with my cats, Kev and Bev!

Brittany Cunningham - Treasurer and Secretary

I am a third year graduate student in the Harper lab. My research focuses on the effects of micro and nanoplastics on small freshwater, estuarine, and marine organisms. I have BS’s in Animal Science and Marine and Coastal Sciences from UC Davis and an MS in Biology from Cal Poly SLO. I am originally from California and enjoy swimming, running, and baking.

Victoria Colvin - Social Chair

I am a third year graduate student in Dr. Tilton’s lab. I received a dual Bachelor's Degree in chemistry and physics from Troy University, and my goal in obtaining my PhD is to gain more knowledge on the biological sciences through environmental and molecular toxicology. My research focuses on PAH toxicity and metabolism in the human lung using in vitro models. Outside of research, I enjoy dancing, sewing, and taking hikes with my dog, Buddy.

Emily Bonner - Outreach Chair

I am a third year graduate student in Dr. Kim Anderson’s lab, studying chemical exposures of structural firefighters using silicone passive samplers. I am also working towards a graduate minor in statistics. I grew up in Littleton, Colorado, and graduated with my BS in biochemistry from Syracuse University in 2019. I love crafting, playing outside, and hanging out with my kitties, Nico(laus Copernicus) and Marie (Curie).

Christian Rude - Outreach Co-Chair, Scholarship Committee Member

I am a second year graduate student interested in the effect of inter-individual variability in xenobiotic metabolism on PAH toxicity. I graduated with a BS in chemistry from Pacific Lutheran University in 2017 before spending a few years wandering down various career paths, my favorite being the mint flavoring industry. Mostly I enjoy having songs stuck in my head and sharing them with everyone.

Sara Hutton - Outreach Committee Member

I am a third year PhD student in Dr. Brander’s lab, where I study the effects of pesticide exposure on early life stage estuarine fish. I am specifically interested in how changes in salinity within estuaries changes toxicity. I graduated with my BS in Environmental Science from UC Davis and. In my free time I enjoy cooking, hiking, and hanging out with my dog and partner.

Ian Moran - Outreach Committee Member

I am in my fourth year in Dr. Anderson’s lab, studying the environmental fate and toxicity of complex chemical mixtures. I’m passionate about statistics and always enjoy talking about it with peers. I grew up in Washington State and attended Western Washington University where I studied Environmental Science. Outside of work I like motorcycles, fishing, mushroom hunting, backpacking, dancing and long hikes with my four legged friend, Arlo.

Sam Samon - Student Faculty Liaison

I am a fourth year graduate student working in Dr. Anderson’s laboratory. My research focuses on using silicone wristbands to assess personal chemical exposure surrounding Hurricane Harvey. I am particularly interested in endocrine disrupting chemicals, and understanding how these chemicals may influence human neurodevelopment and reproductive health, especially in communities facing environmental justice issues. I graduated from The University of Nevada, Reno with degrees in environmental chemistry and biology. I love going on adventures with my fiance, our two dogs peanut and butter, and all of my EMT buddies.

Dunping Cao - Scholarship Chair

I am a fourth year PhD student in Dr. Jennifer Field group working on Per or polyfluoalkyl substance (PFAS). My research focuses on developing and modifying the analytical method and characterizing the samples from biologists and illustrating the components change of aqueous firefighting foam over time by using different softwares to do the data analysis. Born and grew up in Qingdao, China, I obtained my bachelor degree in material science in 2010, master degree in condensed matter physics in 2017. When I am outside the lab, I study different martial arts. Road trips, swimming and learning French are also my hobbies.

Chloe Fender - Scholarship Committee Member

I joined EMT in Fall 2020 and am starting my second year as a graduate student. My research goals include using toxicology to build an understanding of ecosystems and identify pollutants and their potential environmental and human health impacts. I grew up in Boise, Idaho and graduated in 2019 from Westminster College in Salt Lake City with a B.S. in Biology and did research in environmental chemistry and water quality. Before coming to OSU, I worked in a biotech lab and as a wildlife technician at Great Salt Lake UT. My hobbies include climbing, backpacking, water activities, music and baking.

Ivan Titley - Post-Doc Rep

I am a postdoc working with Dr. Jennifer Field in Dr. Staci Simonich’s laboratory. My primary project concerns the analysis of volatile PFASs released from landfill sites. I am originally from Indonesia and I graduated with my BA from Berea College in KY in 2013 and with my PhD from OSU in 2017. Before coming back to OSU, I spent two years as a postdoc at Örebro University in Sweden. When I’m not in the lab, I enjoy watching the NBA and English Premier League games, listening to podcasts, playing badminton, cooking, and hiking.

Subham Dasgupta -
Post-Doc Rep

I am a postdoctoral fellow within Dr. Robyn Tanguay’s Lab. I got my BS in Human Physiology (2008) and MS in Environmental Science (2010) from the University of Calcutta, India. Following this, I got my PhD (2016) from the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, Stony Brook University, NY, where I was mentored by Dr. Anne McElroy and worked understanding biological responses to crude and dispersed oil, oil spill dispersants and hypoxia within early life fish . Following this, I worked as a postdoc in Dr. David Volz’s lab at UC Riverside (2017-2019), where I investigated phenotypic effects and molecular responses of early developmental exposures of organophosphate flame retardants and PFAS during zebrafish embryogenesis. In 2019, I joined Dr. Tanguay’s lab and am currently using zebrafish as a model to- 1) understand the molecular basis of the role of a long non-coding RNA (slincR) on embryonic development, 2) systemically assess phenotypic and molecular responses of 5G-level radiofrequency radiations and 3) understand systems level effects of flame retardants.
