I've been a Faculty Research Assistant with the Aquatic Toxicology Lab since January of 2013. As of June 2021 I've taken on running the day to day operations of the AquaTox lab. My experience includes working with dozens of species, freshwater and marine, including plants on up to vertebrates, in short and long term lab testing. I've worked with all different potential "toxicants" and potential endocrine disrupters from crude oil/dispersant, treated wastewater with pharmaceuticals, heavy metals, and even electromagnetic fields. My absolute favorite part of the scientific process is figuring out HOW to do the study. So, that includes everything from designing and fabricating the test chambers, to stringing together giant diluter systems that feed water to dozens of individual chambers at different dose concentrations. Figuring out the best way to remove those pesky unexpected variables is what I do best, and I feel like I'm in the perfect place to do that.
