I am an interdisciplinary social scientist who studies natural resource management in two directions: how humans benefit from the natural environment and how human actions impact the natural environment.  My research has been based in the Pacific Northwest and Latin America.  I use a variety of tools from psychology, anthropology, sociology, geography, political science and other disciplines to help resource managers better understand and integrate social sciences into natural resource management, with specific expertise in:

  • Conservation psychology and natural resource decision making
  • Human wellbeing and natural resources
  • Applied research on human dimensions of natural resource management
  • Program Evaluation and Facilitation
  • Environmental Education and Social Learning
