My work is focused on the development of software tools to facilitate exploration and knowledge extraction from genomic data. This work includes the use of semantic technologies to connect knowledge from species across the tree of life, as well as efforts to build and grow communities around genome curation efforts that support this process of discovery.

Genomics has brought on decades of data to our fingertips; collectively, we are now building tools that make an even more effective use of these data. Our group hopes to make connections that help us encode, integrate and analyze phenotypes (observable characteristics or traits of an organism) with a focus on human disease and drawing insights from laboratory organisms.
