Applying to the EMT Department 

The Department of Environmental & Molecular Toxicology accepts students for Fall Term admission only.

Applications are not considered complete until the following items have been recieved by the department and the Grad School. Please be sure to send the correct documents to the appropriate Department to allow for timely processing.

First, fill out your online application

Create a user account if you are a first time applicant, or use your existing Login and Pin if you are currently an OSU student or have already registered

  • When you're finishing filling out your application, you will be asked to pay the $60 application fee online via a debit/credit card. This will complete your web application submission. Then follow steps below.

Upon submitting your online application, please send the following documents to the Graduate School (address below)

  • Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work
  • International Student Certification of Finances for non-U.S. applicants
  • Official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores (non-U.S. applicants only)

Then, send the following documents to the EMT Department (address below)

  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores* (If GRE scores are sent to Graduate Admissions, this is not necessary)
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation (on official letterhead & sealed) Alternatively, letters of recommendation may be submitted through the new, online system available through the Graduate School.

* GRE scores are no longer required for applicants that have or will have a Master's Degree by the term they enter the TOX program.

Application deadline

The Department of Environmental and Molecular Toxicology accepts applications for both Ph.D. and M.S. graduate programs throughout the year. Our standard application cycle is to review applications for Fall term admission beginning in January each year with decisions for acceptance announced on a rolling basis until available positions are filled. For full consideration, complete applications should be received no later than December 31st. Additional positions may become available throughout the year, and interested applicants are encouraged to contact the department for more information.
